Garuda Wisnu Kencana Park (GWK) is a cultural center located on the Bukit Peninsula, at its highest point. It was founded in 1997 on the site of an old limestone quarry. The park’s main attraction is the statue of the god Vishnu, which has become the tallest monument in Indonesia. Its construction lasted more than 10 years, and now it rises 121 meters high, including the pedestal.
Location and general information
GWK is situated near the village of Ungasan. Once an abandoned area, today the park has become a venue for festivals, exhibitions, and events. The statue of Vishnu riding the bird Garuda is made of copper and brass. Its height is 75 m and its width is 64 m. The structure is divided into 24 segments, which were transported to Bali from the city of Bandung.
The park covers an area of about 240 hectares, surrounded by limestone cliffs and tropical vegetation. Here you will find fountains, lakes, an amphitheater, art galleries, and many other attractions.
Statue of Vishnu
On Vishnu Square stands the main statue of the god depicted with closed eyes. Vishnu symbolizes protection and world harmony. Nearby is the Parahyangan Somaka Giri fountain with wells considered sacred.

Garuda Square
This square features a separate 18-meter statue of the mythical bird Garuda. According to legend, Garuda became the vehicle of Vishnu in gratitude for the gift of immortality. The sculpture faces the statue of the god.

Lotus Pond
The largest square of the park, surrounded by limestone cliffs. It is used for festivals and ceremonies. In the center, there is a fountain with a figure of a man releasing birds.
Indraloka Garden
This area is dedicated to the god Indra, lord of thunder and rain. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Ungasan, Jimbaran, and the coastline.
Amphitheater
Daily cultural performances are held here. Among the most popular dances:

Art Gallery
Located near the park entrance, the gallery allows visitors to watch local artisans at work, explore batik techniques, and purchase souvenirs.
